The spirit of the Wild West in every bag

Cowboy Catnip is a small Colorado grower with one job: get fresh-cut catnip from our plants in Golden to cats across the Denver metro while it is still fresh.

Flowering catnip growing in a Golden, Colorado garden

Grown in the foothills of Golden, Colorado

Our catnip grows in Golden, where the plains meet the Rocky Mountains. Catnip (Nepeta cataria) is a hardy member of the mint family, and it thrives in Colorado's sunny days and cool nights.

We harvest whole sprigs, leaves and flower heads together, and get them moving the same way a farmer's market herb would: cut, bagged, and out the door.

Why we do not dry it

Most catnip is sold dried. Drying is convenient for shelf life, but the volatile oils that make catnip interesting to cats fade with heat, light, and time. We would rather deliver fresh-cut sprigs a few days after harvest than a bag of flakes that was harvested a season ago.

That is also why we only deliver locally. Fresh catnip does not belong in a warehouse. It belongs in your fridge, and then on your living room floor.

What we stand for

Fresh first

Harvested for peak potency and typically delivered in 1 to 3 days. Nothing dried, nothing processed.

Local by design

We deliver only within the Denver metro so every bag arrives green and fragrant.

Low waste

Our resealable bags are certified commercially compostable, so where commercial composting is available the packaging can go out with food scraps.
